While Croft is no stranger to depicting even the most obscure comic heroes, Silk's profile is currently on the rise. Amazon Studios has plans for a Silk TV show, introducing Cindy to live action, and her comic career continues to go from strength to strength. Cindy has since joined the Agents of Atlas and fought the feline demon Kasha, helping to save the world many times over. Jonah Jameson, and the two have struck up a mentor/mentee relationship similar to that between Jameson and the teenage Peter Parker.Īnother change made to Silk in more recent comics is that her and Peter's pheromones no longer make them irresistibly attracted to each other - a detail which later writers dropped and which original writer Dan Slott (who created Cindy alongside Humberto Ramos) has since called a mistake on his part.
Happily, her preference for the old-school has at least endeared her to J. A Korean-American hero, Silk has undergone some changes since Spider-Man released her from Ezekiel's vault, reconnecting with family and struggling to adapt to a world that passed her by in many ways, especially in terms of technology.
While not yet as famous as Peter Parker, Cindy has had plenty of adventures and regularly appears in her own comics, with a new series coming in 2022. Croft has tackled many Marvel and DC heroes before, from Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora to X-Men disco-star superhero Dazzler.
Now, body paint artist Melissa Croft has recreated Cindy Moon's original web-based costume in a video depicting her web-slinging powers, as well as a creative photoshoot that seemingly sees her hanging upside down like a true Spider-Verse hero, both shared on Twitter. Weaker but far faster than Spider-Man - and boasting both an advanced spider-sense and the ability to spin webs naturally out of her fingertips - Cindy was locked up for years by Peter's one-time mentor Ezekiel, who wished to protect both her and Peter from the multiversal predators known as the Inheritors.
Receiving her full debut in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man #4 after minor, unnamed appearances in previous issues, Cindy was bitten by the same spider that created Peter, developing similar but not identical powers. To give you some ideas of the many, many ways body paint can be used for Halloween, check out the 36 looks here.A new body paint cosplay brings back Silk's first costume, reminding fans of the comic issue where Spider-Manfirst discovered that the radioactive spider which created him also created another superhuman - the web-spinning Cindy Moon. One of the best parts of utilizing body paint is that it makes your costume completely customizable. If you're hoping for something guaranteed to impress, I suggest going for a full-body "ensemble." If you're slightly more hesitant or just need a look a bit easier to remove at the end of the night, choose one that focuses solely on the face, neck, and arms. And the creative ways to express this are virtually unlimited. These looks are unique in that they only require two materials - body spandex and the paint itself. When it comes to Halloween, body paint opens up a virtually endless number of possibilities to have the most creative, creepy, and costume-contest-worthy outfit.
The way this technique can be used to turn the human body into a full-on paint canvas is, at least in my personal opinion, one of the coolest costuming methods.
When Skin Wars debuted in 2014, I became more than a little obsessed with the art form of body painting.
